Here at Everbearing Farm, we are mostly a homesteading venture. We live in the city, and we would love to grow all of our own food. We are relatively new to gardening, we don't have a ton of space, and we still have jobs. So to supplement our own harvests, we signed up for a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture).
We pay a nearby farmer to give us vegetables every week for the summer and fall months. In turn, we head down to the local farmers market on Saturdays and receive a large tote full of veggies, and we usually buy a dozen eggs on the side, sometimes even bouquets of flowers! This is what was in our share this week.

We really enjoy this way of buying produce. We know it's fresh, it's local, and we help support a farmer. The connection with our local farmer is also a great reason to join a CSA or shop at the farmers market in general. We have really great conversations with ours. He is open about how he grows the food he sells and what and how he uses the produce he is selling. Also, great eggs! :)
So if you're on the fence about where to get your food from, or if you are having bad luck growing your own, try the farmers market or join a CSA if you can. It's worth it, and it's a great way to get your veggies!
