Salvia is a beautiful plant. I would watch some of my favorite youtube channels like Garden Answer and Creekside Nursery and dream of having salvia gracing my front yard. So when it came time to pick new flowers for the garden back in February I immediately picked up some seeds from Baker Creek and got to planting! The variety I chose was Blue Monday sage salvia and I have no regrets! These are beautiful plants with long flowering spikes that are dark purple-ish at the top, fading lighter and lighter down the stem. They are gorgeous. :)
When they began blooming and throwing up their spikes I had no idea how big they'd get but they are about 18" tall now and so prolific! Although I have some flowers still on, soon I will have to start deadheading them. The blooms from the first couple months have fizzled out and dried on the plant so I will be taking the pruners to them and shearing them back.
According to all the gardening sites I have visited, these plants should push new blooms and be another amazing show here in a couple of weeks which I am so excited about! I'll let you know how they turn out!
